Gender Reveal Party
A Queer Craft Circle
This craft circle will explore themes related gender and sexuality through simple handicrafts, giving each other permission to experiment, go out on a limb, and get messy! Do you want to try out a new name or pronouns? A daring new look you’re nervous to debut? You’ve come to the right place. All are welcome, not only those who identify as queer. Bring your questioning, your certainties, and most importantly, your own pair of scissors! No experience necessary.
In December our guest facilitator huesos will show us how to DIY pronoun pins. We'll have some pre-made designs, or you can go wild on your own design. You'll get to walk into winter holidays with your head held high and a eye-catching reminder to your family that yes, it is still they/them, thank you!
Group facilitator Esme is a professional anarchist and an amateur crafter. They love creating intimate containers for community members to connect at Firestorm. Drawing from their experience in art therapy, the process of creating — rather than the final product — will be the emphasis of the crafts she chooses.
Guest facilitator huesos is a spontaneous avid crafter and big advocate for making bad art. They tend to love their meticulous collaging that turns everything around him into a mess. And his biggest delight of it all is getting to gift his crafts to their loved ones.
The organizer of this event marked it kid-friendly. 😛
