Barb Morrison and Alysia Sawchyn

Touching on recovery, transition, and self-discovery, two writers—Barb Morrison, author of Bottoming for God, and Alysia Sawchyn, author of A Fish Growing Lungs—join us for readings on identity and becoming.

Barb Morrison is a renowned trans nonbinary recording artist, Top 5 Billboard dance chart songwriter, and Platinum record producer, best known as producer for numerous artists such as Blondie, Rufus Wainwright, Franz Ferdinand, LP, Asia Kate Dillon and as a film score composer. Their recent book, Bottoming for God, is a story about gender euphoria, sobriety, old skool NYC, true love, past lives and coming home.

Alysia Li Ying Sawchyn is a Senior Features Editor at The Rumpus. Her debut collection, A Fish Growing Lungs, was a finalist for the Believer Awards in nonfiction. She has received fellowships from the Sewanee Writers' Conference and the Kenyon Writers' Workshop, and she is an Assistant Professor at Warren Wilson College. Her next book, I Have This Thing for Flowers, is forthcoming from Flatiron Press in 2026.
