How We Survive

Author Shane Burley is joined by Natasha Lennard (Being Numerous: Essays on Non-Fascist Life) and Talia Lavin (Culture Warlords: My Journey Into the Dark Web of White Supremacy) for a virtual discussion of his new book from AK Press, Why We Fight: Essays on Fascism, Resistance, and Surviving the Apocalypse.

Why We Fight is a collection of essays written in the midst of the largest resurgence of the far-right in fifty years, and the explosion of antifascist, antiracist, and revolutionary organizing that has risen to fight it.

Shane Burley is a writer and filmmaker and author of Fascism Today: What It is and How to End It, also from AK Press.

Natasha Lennard is a Contributing Writer for the Intercept, and her work has appeared regularly in the New York Times, Nation, Esquire, Vice, Salon, and the New Inquiry, among others. She teaches Critical Journalism at the New School for Social Research. She authored Being Numerous: Essays on Non-Fascist Life (Verso) and coauthored Violence: Humans in Dark Times with Brad Evans.

Talia Lavin is a writer who has had bylines in the New Yorker, the New Republic, the New York Times Review of Books, the Washington Post, the Village Voice, and more. She is the author of Culture Warlords: My Journey Into the Dark Web of White Supremacy (Hachette Books).
