Becoming a Community Reporter

Every Wednesday from October 2018 until November 2018

Get tips and tricks from JMPRO about how to become a community reporter, how to document an event and how to create reports with video and photos.

JMPRO TV is a media platform that provides information to Western North Carolina’s Latinx community. Having identified language barriers as a critical challenge in connecting the Latinx community to civic, economic, social, and educational opportunities in WNC, their multilingual reporting offers an alternative media source to the spanish speaking community. They give voice to the complex issues affecting WNC’s Latinx community by conducting interviews in spanish, offering live coverage of events, and producing video content which they share on social media. JMPRO centers the voice of people most directly affected by issues. Their eclectic staff and community reporters reflect the makeup of the community of listeners and play a key role in determining priorities of our community channel’s production.

To increase accessibility for high risk community members, Firestorm requires masking at all indoor events. Learn more
