"Cuthbert's Silence"
Director Marion Lary presents a new documentary, Cuthbert's Silence, about one town which is a microcosm of Black and White race relations in rural America.
At the age of eighteen, Marion spent a year living in Cutherbert, a town in rural north Georgia. Shocked and disturbed by the underlying and overt racism she witnessed, Marion returned to her native France in silence about her experiences. Now, forty years later, Marion returns to Cuthbert to explore how race relations have developed overtime. What follows is a journey against the weight of time, against forgetfulness, and an investigation into how memory impregnates and vivifies our belonging to a given society.
Tthe screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director. You can watch the trailer at https://vimeo.com/287031733.
