Gender Creative Kids Playgroup
This is an informal event where families can come together, be themselves and celebrate children's and caregivers' diversity.
For us, gender creativity loosely means kids who fall outside of traditional gender norms in any direction, but we welcome other interpretations. This group is for gender creative kids, trans and non-binary kids, and children raised in non-binary or trans households, but we do not seek to be exclusive. Let's create a safe space where we can rewrite the rules of gender together. The only requirement for attendance is respect for the other participants' creativity.
Note: This is NOT a drop-off group. Caregivers are expected to stay at the park with their children for the duration of the group.
We strive to make the playgroup free of gender stereotypes and binary thinking about gender. Children (and adults) express and explore gender in many very different ways. Please talk to your children before coming about it being okay for anyone to experiment wth their gender in any way they see fit. It's important to us that we maintain a space that is safe from gender policing from both adults and children.
We will have hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and a few other outdoor toys, books, paper and markers, and apples. Feel free to bring games, activities, and/or snacks to share, but refrain from bringing peanuts or anything with peanut butter.
