When the Reapers Come Home

"The stuff from Afghanistan is going to come back." -- That was the statement from Department of Defense official Steve Pennington in the LA Times, one day before the 2012 FAA Modernization and Reform Act was signed into law.

Join us for an evening with local activist Barry Summers who will share his extensive research on the use of domestic surveillance drones. This event kicks off a week of activities in support of the Drones Quilt Project (dronesquiltproject.wordpress.com), on display at Firestorm from August 17th to August 22nd.

Barry Summers is a visual artist and radio host who moved to Asheville from Greensboro in 1997. He has been active in local political issues ever since, most recently as the founder of SaveOurWaterWNC, the activist group opposing the State takeover of Asheville's water system.

To increase accessibility for high risk community members, Firestorm requires masking at all indoor events. Learn more
