The author of "The Anatomy of Prison Life: Behind the Walls of the Illinois Department of Corrections," Charles L. Hinsley is a native of Asheville having graduated from Asheville High School in 1976. He has a combined experience of 28 years in both correctional management and human services. He is an advocate of derailing the devastating impact of the mass incarceration of black and brown people of color overwhelmingly represented by the African American and Hispanic communities. His book explores the myths and realities of our correctional penal system: the good, the bad, and the ugly!
