Katie Sachs live at Firestorm

Writing and performing since the age of 13, Katie has grown up to create complex melodies and vivid lyrical imagery, which she expresses through a voice that is visceral and compelling.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as: Billie Holiday, Feist, Tom Waits and The Talking Heads; Sachs' music is an interesting blend of Jazz, Indie Rock and New Wave that manifest in songs ranging from poppy crowd pleasers to sultry ballads.

Her background as a community organizer and use of music as a tool for community building, make her a singer with a purpose. Whether you catch one of her solo acts, playing out with her band The Organelles, or leading a workshop on songwriting, you are bound to have your heart cracked open by this blossoming young talent.

"I was shopping for peaches at a farmers market and heard the low thrum of a baritone ukulele and a voice somewhere between Billie Holiday and David Byrne. It was Katie Sachs. Delicious melodies. Juicy lyrics." -Monte Belmonte, 93.9 The River

“Sachs’ voice has a deliciously pure tone, and a calculated warble that displays a creamy melodic integrity.” -Tom Sturm, The Valley Advocate
