DIY Printmaking Show

New Prints/Newsprints Black Male/Blackmail

Adam Void and Chelsea Ragan are DIY artists, political activists, and nationally recognized printmakers, who just so happen to live in Asheville. This month-long event will feature non-traditional, hand-crafted, carved, and painted prints covering a variety of important contemporary political issues.

Chelsea Ragan's series, "Black Male Blackmail" addresses the issue of police violence against black male youth, through individual documentation of recent yet forgotten instances from all around the nation.

Adam Void's series, "News Prints" addresses a multitude of contemporary news sources that have been swept under the corporate-media's rug. His prints give factual accounts of Earth First treesits, FBI anti-anarchist sting operations, NYPD's targeting of the mentally ill, and massive oil spills in suburban Arkansas to name a few.

Both Chelsea and Adam are making the work from this show available at a reduced rate for Firestorm's patrons, in a drastic reduction of sticker price from their usual gallery presentations.
