Earth Poetry for Earth Day
For centuries, poets have celebrated the Earth; its seasons, its creatures, its beauty and its bounty. Poets have also raged against the destruction of nature and grieved the growing spiritual separation between human beings and our magnificent home planet.
Join poet Stephen Wing for a celebration of this ancient poetic tradition in honor of Earth Day 2013. An open mike on the themes of nature and ecology will follow Wing’s reading – all Earth Poets welcome!
Wing is the author of two books of poetry and an eco-comic novel, Free Ralph! Based in Atlanta, he serves on the boards of the Lake Claire Community Land Trust and Nuclear Watch South. Dogwood Alliance will have an info table and present a short talk during the break.
