By Balsam Karam

Loved by our collective!

I loved the unique reading experience, wandering among the lyrically written words, soaking in the scenes of an anonymous seaside city and the "Outskirts" near a border, and the unraveling of an "uprising" seemingly started by a brave girl called Milde. The storytelling is not as straightforward as the synopsis might suggest—time is not linear, and reality is ambiguous (but the reading is not difficult nor hard to follow!) The stories that slowly emerge as you read of the life of Milde, and other mothers and children, are full of grief, oppression, love, liveliness, resilience, and solidarity.

*Parts of the book explores the universe and the event horizon in a philosophical way, but this isn't a conventional Sci-Fi if that might be what you are looking for!
