A Summer of Static
By Wren Greyson
In the summer of 2100,
Purcell is pulled out of a simulation where they had lived their whole life as a human being. Now, they’re in the real world, fighting to prove that they’re a sentient person inside a robot body. They struggle with dermatillomania, aka skin picking disorder, and are forced to rely on the mechanic that ended their simulation life to repair them. Purcell must decide whether to integrate into society or reenter a simulation to escape the hardships of being a living robot.
Wren Greyson is a North Carolina writer who lives in Asheville with their cat Alfred. They like to write cozy, feel-good stories that celebrate the mundanity of everyday life.
