Olga of Kyiv
By Billy McCall
Olga of Kiev!
From the author:
"I have all these projects I'm working on, but I have a terrible habit of getting really excited about things. And when that happens, I just put everything else on hold and make a zines.
This week I learned about Olga of Kiev. She lived over 1,000 years ago, and was the first woman ruler in Eastern Europe. She ruled over Kievan Rus, which was where modern day Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia are today. Yo, Olga was TOUGH.
When Olga's husband is killed, she goes on a rampage and just slaughters everyone involved. Then she rules for 15 years and people love her. Then she becomes a Christian, is the first person to bring Catholicism to eastern Europe, and then the Catholic church grants her sainthood!! What!? What a wild life!"
