Regularly scheduled book clubs hosted by community organizers are an exciting recent development at Firestorm. Participants are able to request free "solidarity copies" of the books selected, or pay it forward for others. Events—and the equitable compensation of guest facilitators—are supported by funding from our Community Sustainers Program. Every contribution adds up and our monthly tiers begin at just $7.50!

At Firestorm, we’re deeply committed to keeping events free and accessible. While we hope to return to in-person events in the future, our virtual events and reading groups have allowed us to continue safely expanding our network and connecting with folks outside of Western North Carolina, while also working with local authors and organizers.

We are committed to the idea that study is what you do with other people. It’s talking and walking around with other people, working, dancing, suffering, some irreducible convergence of all three, held under the name of speculative practice.—Fred Moten
