In-House Book Groups

Our collective is excited to announce the launch of two in-house book groups! Members will meet monthly to discuss books of literary and social significance. Firestorm will provide a discount on book group selections for the month leading up to each each meeting. Folks are encouraged to come prepared with questions and talking points!

ReVisioning History Book Group
The last Tuesday of each month
7pm to 8:30pm

This discussion group focuses on books that challenge or expand on dominant historical narratives and research methodologies. In August we will begin reading "The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism".

August/September - "The Half Has Never Been Told" by Edward E. Baptist
October - "Dixie Be Damned" by Neal Shirley and Saralee Stafford
November - "An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States" by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz

Other Worlds Are Possible Book Group
The last Wednesday of each month
7pm to 8:30pm

This discussion group focuses on science fiction, speculative fiction and fantasy with feminist, social justice and/or "radical" themes. In August we'll be reading "Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements."
