This workshop will combine slide presentation, performance and communal singing to tell the story of the Southern West Virginia Coal Wars. April marks the centennial anniversary of the Paint-Creek/Cabin-Creek Wars (1912-1913), an integral part of Appalachia's labor history, and a precursor to the 1921 March and Battle of Blair Mountain, during which nearly 15,000 people rebelled against their corporate-owned government.

Come learn about the West Virginia mine wars in an interactive setting and learn about the current fight to end mountain-top removal mining on Blair Mountain. Saro, co-founder of the Blair Pathways Project will use songs from this era to lead the audience through the history of these coal wars.
