Economics Beyond the G20
Participatory Analysis Session
Over the last two months, the G20 Popular Education Crew has engaged a wide range of folks in conversation about the G20 international finance summit happening in our town August 29 to September 1. We've shared information about how this summit advances a harmful economic agenda driven by elites, and invited people to explore their own thoughts about this thing known as "the economy" by asking, "How does 'the economy' make you FEEL?" and "What questions do you have about it?"
This event is preceded by a public teach-in on Thursday, August 27th.
From feelings of despair and anger to empowerment and curiosity, the 50+ responses we received represent a diverse range of perspectives on a really big topic, and the questions shared point to many potential avenues of inquiry and building toward liberatory futures. (View all the responses here.)
At this participatory session, we're asking YOU to help us analyze what we've learned so far, and to join us in shaping the next stage of this process. We'll use art and discussion to identify themes and to strategize around how this ongoing community process can help us move from an economic system built by the G20 to a human-centered economy we build for ourselves and each other.
