De-Google Together

Every second Wednesday since June 2026

Do you want to liberate your digital life from big tech platforms like Gmail and OneDrive, but struggle to find the time to make a plan and actually do it?

De-Google Together is a monthly workshop hosted by Bunk Computer Cooperative. The goal of the workshop is to sit down and do the tedious work of actually breaking up with big tech. Everyone is welcome; whether you need help making a plan, installing Linux, picking a new email provider, or if you just want to hold yourself accountable by scheduling time for break-up work.

How the workshop works

We'll set up four tables in a large circle, and sit around them with our laptops. There's a wired internet connection for anyone who needs it (like if you're bringing a desktop computer). There's no itinerary for the workshop, people simply use the time to work on whatever they've chosen to work on that day.

If you're looking for help working on your big tech break up, just ask! A Bunk member or other participants will be happy to help you. If you've already finished your big tech break up and want to come just to help, please do.

If you want to have dedicated, non-social time for working on your big tech break up, that's welcome too! There's often a lot of crosstalk while people ask each other questions and talk about different tech topics. So if you're distracted by sound, you should bring ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones.

We'll also have flash drives with Linux Mint, if you're curious about test-driving or installing Linux on your computer.

Bunk Computer Cooperative is a worker-owned cooperative. They build private computing infrastructure for businesses, non-profits, and individuals in Western North Carolina. https://bunk.computer
