Skill Share Discussion Circle

Biochar

An ongoing, community-led gathering exploring environmental resilience, skill sharing, and collective care.

Emerging from Firestorm's Disaster Reading Group, this evolving circle brings people together to connect, learn from one another, and experiment with practical ways of living well in uncertain times. Each gathering centers on one specific, concrete skill or idea you can actually use, and makes space for the knowledge and experience people already carry.

This session, led by Alex, covers biochar from the ground up: what it is, how to make it from wood scraps or agricultural waste using a simple burn method, and how to use it to improve soil structure, water retention, and microbial activity. Most of it can be done in a backyard with materials you already have.

As always, the session will leave room for participants to share their own experiences and questions. The group's collective knowledge is part of what we're here to tap. All are welcome. Come curious and participate at whatever level feels right.

To increase accessibility for high risk community members, Firestorm requires masking at all indoor events. Learn more
