Thursday, May 1st, 6:00pm – 10:00pm ET
May Day Potluck & Movie Night
Join friends and neighbors to celebrate May Day, a holiday rooted in working class and immigrant resistance to the power of oligarchs. Celebrated around the world as International Workers' Day, May Day commemorates the struggle for the eight-hour day, which culminated in the police massacre of strikers in Chicago and subsequent state execution of four prominent anarchists.
6pm – Community Potluck
Bring a dish to share, vegan and gluten-free items are encouraged! We'll be relaxing, chatting, and playing yard games. This portion of the event will take place on the outdoor patio and is weather dependent (check out social media if it looks iffy).
8pm – Class War Film Screening
We'll be screening an Appalachian labor history classic! This film is two hours long and rated PG-13 due to violence (including gun violence) and mild profanity.
Wait, there's more!
On the evening of Friday, May 2nd we'll be hosting folk bank Émigré for a May Day / Bealtaine show! Bring a few dollars for the band and the Gaza Soup Kitchen because this performance is a fundraiser.
