Body Talk

Every first, second, third and fourth Thursday in May 2025

Aubrey Gordon's debut, What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat, challenges readers to embrace a radically different way of thinking about bodies. Throughout the month of May, this study group will take up the challenge. We'll dive in deep with the book as well as select episodes of Gordon's podcast, Maintenance Phase.

No reading is required for the initial meeting!

After four sessions of discussion, the study group will conclude with a May 29th screening of the 2023 documentary Your Fat Friend, which follows Gordon's journey from anonymous blogger to celebrated author.

Group facilitator, Esme, is a Firestorm collective member and ravenous consumer of podcasts. As a thin person, they are interested in exploring how whiteness and patriarchy have conspired to form their relationship to their body and how they can show up better for their fat kin.

Content Warning: This event may include discussion of eating disorders.
