Gender Reveal Party
Queer Craft Circle
This craft circle will explore themes related to gender and sexuality through simple handicrafts, giving each other permission to experiment, go out on a limb, and get messy! Do you want to try out a new name or pronouns? A daring new look you’re nervous to debut? You’ve come to the right place. All are welcome and no prior art-making experience is necessary.
This month you can gather with queer community to honor our LGBTQIA2S+ heroes with pocket-sized shrines! Guest facilitator Jason will guide you in sewing and embellishing a small pocket "shrine" to honor a queer hero. All fabric, trims, and notions will be provided. We'll have a bunch of queer hero photos to choose from—or bring your own image (ideal size is 2.25" x 1.5")! No specific sewing experience is required, but some manual dexterity would be helpful.
Guest facilitator Jason is a local queer textile artist, and his current work focuses on slow hand stitching. He loves sharing his work with others—and encouraging everyone to join in! Everyone is creative, but we sometimes need a little nudge to embrace our inherent creativity.
The organizer of this event marked it kid-friendly. 😛
