Mutal Aid Self/Social Therapy Study Group
A recurring "task force" that will study mutual aid mental health models so that we can implement our own such support structure in Western North Carolina. Some possible infrastructure goals are:
- MAST community "therapy" model
- Alternatives to HLOC (Higher Levels of Care)
- Peer Respite as an alternative to institutionalization
- Crisis community responders
A core tenet of these mutual aid models is that you do not need license or special training. Whether or not you have personal or professional experience supporting folks is of no consequence. All of us possess the human powers we need to show up for each other, listen, and offer curiosity to come to greater understanding of ourselves and each other.
