Taking the State Out of the Body

Book Talk & Workshop

Join author Eliana Rubin for a conversation and workshop based on their recently published book, Taking the State Out of the Body: A Guide to Embodied Resistance to Zionism. Co-sponsored by Jewish Voice for Peace Asheville.

From Appalachia to Palestine, resisting State violence is an act of embodied self-determination. Living through climate disaster, the rise of fascism, and genocide, we need to know how to sprint and how to marathon within our fights for land and liberation. This event will be an interactive conversation and experiential workshop with Eliana Rubin, author of the recently published PM Press title, Taking the State Out of the Body. We will explore together what it looks like to build strong, intersectional, anti-Zionist movements through the lenses of transforming internalized trauma and oppression while building solidarity across our movements.

Suggested Donation: $0-$25 with 20% of proceeds supporting Hurricane Helene mutual aid in WNC.

Eliana Rubin builds transgressive relationships with bodies, land, and lineage through their work as a somatic practitioner, politicized facilitator, anti-Zionist organizer, and full-spectrum doula. Their practice centers queer and trans organizers in developing embodied leadership as well as Jewish organizers in healing intergenerational trauma for the sake of collective liberation. They were born and raised by the dramatic landscapes and freaks of the San Francisco Bay Area, and are now rooted in the red clay of Durham, North Carolina. sanctuaryembodied.org / takingthestateoutofthebody.com
