Over the last four years we've seen repeated attempts by local authorities—sometimes in direct coordination with the far right—to repress liberatory grassroots movements. Members of our community have faced intimidation, harassment, and trumped up charges designed to de-mobilize us through fear and burnout. At times it's worked.

This workshop will discuss some of the tactics used by police and federal agents to target our movements, and offer suggestions on how to protect ourselves through solidarity. Topics covered will include: how to interact with law enforcement; what to expect when getting arrested in Asheville; the role of the FBI in movement repression; how to support arrestees and those facing charges; and how to organize collective defense and impactful counter-narratives.
