From Firestorm collective member and book club host Esme: I remember my first Pride jump-scare, a cute sorority girl in sparkly booty shorts handed me a complimentary Red Bull, crooning something about getting wings to fly through the parade. Yikes! Many of us have come to regard June with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation (a duality fitting of Gemini season). Every year it gets harder to revel in revolutionary possibility of Pride while keeping the corporate vultures at bay.
