Tarot for Beginners

An introductory level class for those with little or no experience with tarot. Among the topics covered are the history and structure of a tarot deck as well as common beliefs and practices around the use of tarot cards. Participants will step away with a working understanding of how to use a tarot deck for modern styes of "intuitive" or "improvised" readings, connecting their own life to the symbols, and how to do one to three card readings. Emphasis will be placed on developing a personal relationship with one's own deck wile providing an overview of traditional esoteric and symbolic meanings. Also discussed: how to navigate gender and race in the cards (and give recommendations for more diverse or neutral decks) as well as other esoteric disciplines that can support tarot work. Tarot can be a journey of self-discovery and the focus of this class is to help participants have a comfortable relationship to their tarot deck so that they can walk their own path. This is an interactive class and will include group as well as solo readings. Bringing a deck is not necessary but may be helpful.
